Q & A - ENZYMES, VITAMINS, NUTRITION, AND INFINITY2 PRODUCTS

TELL ME ABOUT ENZYMES

What is an enzyme?

Enzymes are energized protein molecules, biological units of work. They have been called the "life force" because they catalyze and regulate nearly all biochemical reactions within the human body, including energy production, metabolism, reproduction, the immune system, and the digestive system. Simply put, without enzymes, life would cease. Individuals who are enzyme deficient are subject to disease and degeneration.

Are all enzymes the same?

No. There are thousands of different enzymes which regulate bodily functions. Enzymes have been grouped into three categories: metabolic enzymes, digestive enzymes and food enzymes. Metabolic enzymes work within the cells to regulate such activity as detoxification and energy production. Digestive enzymes break foods down and make them available for use in the body. Food enzymes are those which are naturally present in raw foods which aid in the breakdown of that food.

What is so special about Infinity enzymes?

All supplements are not the same. Only National Enzyme Company, our supplier, specifically produces enzymes for use with foods. Other enzymes which are on the market may utilize enzymes which are intended for making cheese, removing stains, or some other industrial process. Not only have we used the highest quality enzymes available, Infinity²'s formulator, Infinity, has studied each enzyme to discover what it needs to be fully active and then has included those co-factors to insure maximum enzyme activity in these exclusive formulations. Infinity²'s Digest-a-Meal (Plant-zyme) is the only true complete digestive aid available. Digest-A-Meal (Plant-zyme) has a unique plant enzyme formulation which works through all three phases of digestion to break foods down into their simplest, most absorbable forms. Digest-A-Meal and Plant-zyme are a step ahead of any digestive supplement available, and is one of the most important steps you can take toward health and vitality.

What do you mean by an "enzyme bank account"?

This term was coined by Dr. Edward Howell, pioneer in the study of enzymes, and author of Enzyme Nutrition. He proved that individuals have a fixed number of enzymes available for them to "spend." When and individual's digestive enzymes are depleted or are deficient, the process of digestion must be accomplished by "borrowing" from the metabolic enzymes putting undue stress on the rest of the system. Whenever foods are eaten which are devoid of enzymes, withdrawals form the bank account are made. Most people make regular withdrawals and never make a deposit.

Can't I get enzymes from the food I eat?

Yes, most definitely, but only if that food is not cooked or processed. Modern food processing procedures destroy nearly all of the naturally-occurring enzymes in food. With the prevalence of cooked and processed foods, the average North American diet is essentially devoid of food enzymes. We certainly recommend that you take in as many raw foods as possible, but even then, the raw foods contain only enough enzymes to digest that food. We know that most of your foods, particularly meat and fats, are cooked and processed. Nutritional enzyme supplements should be taken to assist in the digestive process and relieve the stress placed on your body.

Are all enzyme supplements comparable?

No, all enzyme supplements are not the same. Only National Enzyme Company, our supplier, specifically produces enzymes for use with foods. Other enzymes which are on the market may utilize enzymes which are intended for making cheese, removing stains, or some other industrial or processing use only. Not only have we used the highest quality enzymes available, Infinity has carefully studied each enzyme to discover what it needs to be fully active and then has included those co-factors to insure maximum enzyme activity in these exclusive formulations.

How do I know if I need enzymes?

If you eat cooked or processed foods, you need enzymes.

Can I eat too many enzymes?

Emphatically, no. You cannot ingest too many enzymes when taking our formulations. Enzymes only have their activity in the presence of their substrate. That is, if they don't have correct nutritional substrates to work on, they are simply used by the body as a high quality nutritional protein. Many people, in fact, make the choice of taking very high doses of Infinity²'s enzymes and find them to be beneficial. A work of caution, however; taking too many enzymes produced by companies whose formulations do not include the necessary co-factors, will deplete certain minerals and co-factors from the body, eventually causing more harm than good.

TELL ME ABOUT: VITAMINS and do I need to take a vitamin supplement?

Studies show that over 90 percent of Americans are deficient in some vitamin or mineral. Even if you eat a balanced diet, because of the way foods are grown and processed today, you have no guarantee that you are getting the nutrients you need. Soil depletion, pesticides, smog, and the depletion of the ozone layer, along with food-processing methods, all rob our foods of vital nutrients. Supplementation is essential to replenish the life-giving nutrients which are missing in our foods.

Why are whole food vitamins important?

What is the difference between synthetic and whole food vitamins? Whole food vitamins, such as those included in Insure Plus, affect the body and are absorbed and used just as the natural foods would be. Whole foods and whole food complexes are entire composites, not fractions of vitamins. synthetic vitamins are not really vitamins at all, they are only fragments of vitamins. Pulling apart the constituents that make up a food, fractionating, changes that food into a non-food. These non-food fractions are now foreign and unrecognizable to the body, and actually create drug-like reactions.

What are minerals and why are they important?

Minerals are solid substances, natural elements which re not of animal or vegetable origin, "rocks," if you will. Trace minerals are essential to the functioning of the body's systems, particularly the hormone system and the immune system. Minerals also play a vital role in the workings of enzyme reactions, and in producing blood, vitamins and energy.

What is bioavailability of minerals?

Bioavailability refers to how available a mineral element is for use in the body. Here is where mineral supplements vary widely. While some supplements have a high trace mineral content, those minerals are not "chelated" and so are not absorbable and usable in the body.

What does "chelated" minerals mean?

Chelate comes from the Greek word, "claw." Through chelation, an amino acid claws onto, or binds to, a mineral. This enables that mineral to be absorbed through the gut wall. Infinity² uses only amino-acid chelated minerals from the only company which holds a patent on that process, Albion Laboratories. Other mineral supplements on the market which claim to include chelated minerals are most likely using admixtures, and not these amino-acid chelates.

Are there other ways to chelate minerals?

Yes...and no. There are other chelation processes, and companies which claim to use chelated minerals. However, none of them are effective except the chelation process invented by Dr. Harvey Ashmead which involves bonding an amino acid to a mineral in the same way nature does it. Ashmead's patented process is the only way to produce this natural amino acid-mineral complex.

What is CADS(TM) and how does it make the Infinity² products different from other company's products?

CADS(TM) is Infinity's unique method of providing co-factors including a specific complex of minerals and enzymes to assure complete assimilation and utilization of nutritional factors within a supplement. CADS(TM) employs all of the research of Dr. Edward Howell, Dr. Harvey Ashmead, and Dr. Khem Shahani to make possible a complete approach to the biochemistry of nutritional utilization. CADS(TM) must be highly specific to the exact content of each product. The enzymes necessary for complete utilization as well as required for maximum activity are wholly specific to the nature of each formula. Therefore, it is principle of CADS(TM) that each formula is studied in depth before its unique CADS(TM) system is formulated.

Do Infinity products contain DHEA?

Infinity's Insure Plus multivitamin/multi-mineral, does contain wild yam which is a natural source of DHEA, sometimes promotes a 'fountain of youth' supplement. Since we have CADS and the enzyme delivery system assuring cellular absorption, Infinity supplements are more effective.

TELL ME ABOUT: FREE RADICALS AND antioxidants

What is a free radical?

A free radical is an extremely active molecule, such as super oxide hydroxide or paroxide, that will cause rapid oxidation of tissues and especially fats. This results in excess rancidity, tissue damage and premature aging if not controlled. Free radicals are known to cause over 60 major diseases because they damage the cell lining, making it easier for disease to set in. While free radicals are necessary in the body, especially to the immune system, it is extremely important that they be controlled by antioxidants.

What is an antioxidant?

An antioxidant is a specific vitamin enzyme or accessory food factor that has the ability to scavenge and render harmless free radicals. The body has the ability to synthesize antioxidants if given the right nutrition, especially antioxidant enzymes which are sometimes very hard to get from food.

What do you mean by a wholistic antioxidant approach?

Most of the antioxidants on the market do not take a wholistic approach. they may supply the body with antioxidant nutrients, but don't take into account the resulting by-products and don't address making the body a better free radical fighter. It is very important that antioxidants be complete so that when they do their job opposing free radicals, the process does not result in the creation of additional free radicals. Infinity²'s coordinated approach of using both vitamin and enzyme antioxidants together is necessary to prevent further free radical damage.

How does Infinity²'s Life Force Super Antioxidant (Proantho-zyme) help the body become a better free radical fighter?

While other antioxidants on the market supply the body with antioxidant nutrients, Infinity²'s Life Force Super Antioxidant (Proantho-zyme) actually boosts the body's own free radical fighting ability. This is done by supplying the body with patented SOD precursors to facilitate the production of SOD.

What is SOD?

Super Oxide Dismutase (SOD) is the best known and perhaps most important of the antioxidant enzymes. It converts very harmful free radicals super oxide to the less active peroxide, which then can be further converted by other antioxidant enzymes into water. SOD is very difficult to absorb from supplements. However, based on the research of Dr. Harvey Ashmead, we found that by supplying the body with SOD precursors, or building blocks, the body could produce its own SOD. In this way, we have taken a more natural, more complete approach to fighting free radicals.

What are proanthocyanidins?

Proanthocyanidins are a class of antioxidant nutrients to which also bioflavinoids, rutin, and tannins belong. All of those nutrients are powerful antioxidants, but the research of Dr. Jacques Moscalier shows that the most active members of this class are the ones which he refers to pycnogenol.

TELL ME ABOUT: HEALTH CONCERNS AND INFINITY PRODUCTS

Can I give Infinity² Products to my children?

Not only can you, but in most cases, you should! Often the digestive systems in young children are not mature enough to simulate many of the foods they eat, so they do not get all of the nutrients they need. Many children, particularly teenagers, eat mostly processed and nutrient-deficient foods. For children, we recommend all of the Nutritionals, but especially Digest-A-Meal (Plant-zyme) and Insure Plus. We suggest giving half the normal dosage, until they reach puberty, at which time the normal dosage is recommended.

I have a heart condition. Can I take the Infinity² products, particularly Digest-A-Meal (Plant-zyme)? What if I am on blood thinner medication?

There are no contradictions relative to heart problems and any Infinity² products. There are no contradictions relative to blood thinner drugs and any Infinity² products.

I have stomach ulcers. Am I able to take Digest-A-Meal (Plant-zyme) which has protease?

Yes. The balance and amount of protease is not contraindicated in ulcers. However, though it is not harmful, Cytolyse (professional product) may cause some distress in a frank ulcer case.

I have been taking liver and colon cleanse products from another company. Are there Infinity² products which will do the same?

For liver and colon cleanse we are confident in the action of Orthocol (professional product) for liver cleansing, and the best approach for cleansing the colon is restoring the beneficial bacteria by utilizing Total Body Flora (professional product), followed by a maintenance program using Total Flora Support.

What is a detoxification?

Detoxification is the mobilization and expelling of a harmful substance from the body. It is important to take into account that detoxification begins at the cellular level and proceeds through the organs, such as liver and kidneys and usually is carried out thoroughly in the elimination process. Detoxification is a process that is to be a specific for the health problem or the individual.

Will I experience detoxification using the Infinity² products?

Any sound nutrition will assist the body in eliminating toxins, however, a complete detoxification program, such as that employing Infinity² products will minimize unpleasant consequences of detoxification.

Can any or all of the Infinity² products be taken together?

The Infinity² products, both those in the Nutritional line and the Life Force Professional line have been specifically formulated so that there would be no cross reaction or conflict between any or all of the formulas.

Can I lose weight using Infinity² products?

If your body needs to. We have thousands of testimonials of people who have lost weight and body fat using the products. The same hold true if you need top gain weight. Because out goal is to balance the body, the products and the E.N.E.R.G.Y. program assist in reaching your optimal weight.

I am a diabetic. Is it safe to take this product?

Yes. Chromium has been proven to help regulate insulin levels in the body in double blind tests. Helping to digest your sugars using enzymes is also beneficial. we have many testimonials from type II diabetics and hypoglycemics who have completely reversed their condition by going on our program of E.N.E.R.G.Y. However, it is always wise to consult with your physician because insulin levels may change.

Are the products from Infinity² FDA approved?

Every ingredient in every one of out products is on the FDA GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) list. We also stand in high approval with the FDA because we do not practice ORTHOMOLECULAR nutrition. ORTHOMOLECULAR nutrition is the practice of including high doses of nutrients in a formula. Remember our concept is a more balanced approach. Rather than high dosages in our supplements, we focus on delivery and tissue retention of the nutrients.

We hope this has added to your understanding of the Infinity² product line.
